So, there are a bunch of people I know (some local and some scattered around the country) that I'd like to keep tabs on. This includes people like my wife and close friends. Presumably, they'd like to do the same for me. So, by leaving little messages about what I'm doing, it actually allows those other people to see and comment, either via Twitter or face-to-face. This has led to helpful, profitable conversations.
More specifically, I've used Twitter when I travel to let people at home know where I am or what I'm doing. During a recent trip, I would Twitter where I was so that the children could follow along on a map.
Now, following people that you don't know seems weird and useless to me. But I don't do that.
Thanks, Emerge! It's nice to know some one thinks I'm cool. Though you may be the only one! :)
I joined Twitter just to see what all the hub-bub was about. It isn't anything terribly exciting. I can't even begin to explain why I log-on a handful of times a day. It's the same thing with Facebook. I joined forever ago, but only now have become a constant user. Are there 12-step groups out there for this? Is this a sign of needing to get a life? :)

I don't Twitter, I don't Facebook, I don't Myspace.
ditto...ditto...ditto...
No Twitter, no MySpace, yes to Facebook (have to spy on my daughter in Detroit).
I Twitter. Does that make me a bad person? ;-)
Wait! I do all of them...Does that mean I'm not cool? sigh...
And, to be fair, I do have a Facebook account, though I end up viewing it as an extension of Twitter....
Maybe we don't understand the value of Twitter. Could one of you Tweeties explain...
Oh by the way Katie, you are very cool (exception)...
Sure, here's the advantage of Twitter for me.

Well Kaatie, it would be an indicator that you have a little time on your hands... I'm sure you have a life - right?
Sounds like Twitter works for Seth... but what about good ole instant messaging? Is that a thing of the past?

This a funny cartoon Seth had up about Twittering.
Instant messaging is addressed to just one person and is usually to be considered as real-time.
Twitter is viewable by a bunch of people and isn't usually considered real-time conversation.
