Gwynn Jr. Ave; and Jimmy Burnside, who was 24 on January 26, 2010, did not have an address. Now here we are on February 2, 2010, in a news report about a woman being run over by a drunken driver and Jimmy Burnside is 29 and he, Mecca S. Baptiste and the car live at 1107 E. Nebraska Avenue together?
Can't help but to wonder what's next for
Mecca, Jimmy and the car.
No murder charges in homicide
Prosecutors dismissed a first-degree murder charge against a South Peoria man accused in the city's last homicide of 2009.
Kendall G. Brown, 19, initially had been charged with murder in Diondre Nunn's Dec. 29 death. But that charge wasn't presented Tuesday to a Peoria County grand jury, which indicted Brown on charges of armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Three others also face charges of obstructing justice for allegedly giving police false information in the case. They are Mecca S. Baptiste, 25, of 919 W. John H. Gwynn Jr. Ave.; Jimmy Burnside, 24, of Peoria; and Zachary Humbles, 28, of 315 N. Saratoga St.
Baptiste allegedly lied to police about driving her car that night to a nearby gas station, where a video surveillance camera in the parking lot showed the car and, allegedly, Brown inside. The other two allegedly lied to police about Baptiste's involvement in the case.
Woman hit by alleged drunken driver on birthday
Lakisha Mann-Buford, 30, of 504 W. Archer Ave. was treated and released at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The man accused of driving into her, Jimmy D. Burnside, 29, of 1107 E. Nebraska Ave. also was treated and released at St. Francis.
A Peoria police officer responding to another call happened upon the scene about 3:50 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Street and Southwest Washington Street, according to an accident report. A car was stopped in the intersection. The car had struck a pedestrian, along with a parked car, fire hydrant and light pole before stopping.
Burnside said he had not been driving the car. But the car's owner, Mecca S. Baptiste, 25, also of 1107 E. Nebraska, said Burnside was in an altercation and was speeding away from the area when he crashed.

Baptiste allegedly lied about "the car" in the Diondre Nunn murder, and now here she is giving police another story about "the car" being involved in another crime.
1107 E Nebraska? "The car" is now oftentimes in the Glen Oak School Impact Zone!
First of all let me give my respects to the Nunn family. I did not know him but from what I heard he was loved by everyone, including the people implicated in his murder. They were all friends.
Here is the problem with these stories that are being told about, Kendall Brown, Mecca Baptise, Jimmy Burnside, Zachery Humbles, "the car",etc. I thought that "A person is innocent until proven guilty". Everytime you read the paper there is a new story to "tickle the ears" of the public. Sort of like when Bush kept reporting about there were weapons of mass distruction...yet there was "none" found. Do you all realize that the Police is throwing the brick and hiding their hands? The truth will come out about all of these incidents involving our "loved ones" and "the car". Did they report that Jimmy Burnside was trying to stop an altercation from happening when he was jumped by by 8-10 "loved ones"? Yet, none of those individuals were arrested. In fact they turned into the informants telling the police (throwing the brick hiding their hands)that Jimmy Burnside did everything. I guess he beat himself up while he was driving. Do you all know that witnesses on the seen reported that there was a "white lincoln" that hit the girl? Mecca or Jimmy do not own a white Lincoln. Also, did it ever occur to anyone that the defendats that are being implicated for the shooting of Nunn could be witnesses? DO NOT BE FOOLED OR FULED BY WHAT YOU HEAR RIGHT NOW. I have faith that the States Attorney will see through these fabricated stories that was put together by the Police. The Police needs to stop watching so much TV. The need to follow protocal. They sit back and laugh and put us down over beers, while watching "First 48". And about those obstruction charges. Even when you tell the truth...you still lying (let the Police tell it). I will not read another newspaper article about these issues because every story is different. Therefore, who should be really charged with obstruction? They keep reporting something different everyday. After those defendants, and witnesses have their day in court...I wonder what the story will be then...You all have to keep this in mind...Mr. Nunn is someone son, Ms. Baptise is someones mother and daughter, Mr. Burnside is someones son and someones father, Mr. Humbles is someones son, and Mr. Brown is someones son. Let's not get caught up in this web of hearsay, because only our Higher Power can judge us. Always remember when you point the finger "three" are pointed back at you. "PLACES EVERYONE,PLACES".
