"Entire central Illinois region behind Sara Palin 100%"

Even though Palin quit the governor of Alaska gig in 2008, last night Mayor of Washington, Illinois, Gary Manier introduced Palin to the over one thousand giddy people who attended the dinner at Washington Five Points as the Governor.

Although the event was held up to be a fundraiser for the Washington Area Community Center and for youth scholarships, the comments that Mayor Manier made when giving Palin the key to the City, indicates that he is a true fan and supporter of the ideals the "Governor" is spewing.

I suppose bringing Palin to town under the guise of a fundraiser and having people think they are so desperate for funding for their schools, they would do anything, even stoop so low as to bring in Palin, is better than admitting he would bring the hatemonger to town just because he and his constituents are fans.

Either way, the fact that he felt so comfortable openly swooning over her is a sad commentary on the region in which we live. A thriving tea party and now this. Ugh.

Not only presumptuous but completely self-deluded for the Mayor of Washington to suggest the he speaks on behalf of "the entire Peoria and central Illinois region" concerning one of the most divisive people in the country.

The best movement against wing nut extremists is to work together as a community to make things work better. No more complaints about how bad the other side is. It is up to us to show how well we can make things work starting in our own back yard.

I am not behind her Mr Mayor! I am glad she is in Washington IL instead of Washington DC.

How much did her visit cost the taxpayers? ZERO. How much did Joe Biden's visit cost? Why would you complain about someone coming into a community to give a speech? Were you pissed that you didn't get to see Barbara Walters when she was in town? Please. Everyone there paid to be there. Leave them alone. No one is questioning where you spend your money or time. Instead of bitching about a NON ISSUE, involve yourself in something that will make a difference in the lives of others in a positive way. Now quit whining, unless you want to be served some CHEESE.

No - I'm pissed that some mayor who doesn't represent me feels he should should be entitled to state who or what I support. And I'm pissed at those, like you, who know nothing about most posters yet have the gall to imply I and others are not involved in things that make a difference in the lives of others. Volunteerism is hardly the sole domain of the conservative.

Palin possibly playing a leadership role in our country is far from a "non-issue." It should be a real concern.

Palin a hatemonger? I guess I can see that. She certainly has provoked all of you to hate her.

I haven't seen a single example of Palin "hate mongering", but countless instances of "good hearted" liberals blindly, irrationally hating her.

It isn't "hate" that Palin is peddling, it is derision.
She knows (wink wink) what's best and she (wink wink) is so much more informed and qualifies (wink wink) than anyone else.

My bad, I was using the Urban Dictionary definition of hate monger:

hate monger - 1.)A person who uses political beliefs or passions of any kind as a platform to express their hatred for another individual. 2.)A media personality who spreads hate under the guise of a political affiliation or a religous belief. (the only thing missing here is a picture of Palin)

although the on-line dictionary refers to it as:

One who incites others to hatred or prejudice; (noun)one who arouses hatred for others.

It seems we agree that she arouses and incites hatred, therefore, she is a hatemonger.

Whatever.

CJ: No hate here for Palin but whether you know it or not, she stirs the fear in those out there that are too ignorant to think or read on their own. You know. The ones who feel the need to wear a weapon for coffee or fear the need to train against a someday government attack? They are don't have your hat size CJ. When one of these wing nuts decides to take the law on his own because of Mrs. Palin's non factual rhetoric, then we will see real hate.

As for the "Anonymous" poster that compared Biden's visit to Palin's. What a nut. There is a big difference. Of course Palin's visit didn't cost as much as a Vice Presidential visit. He is the Vice President of the United States. Palin is what? An entertainer that's all. (hopefully) But, I'll bet Washington City spent money on police and other little infrastructure costs for her visit and I'll bet the Palin team didn't leave a tip, just their garbage. Stop comparing a real leader to Palin.
