Did a teacher push a student at Glen Oak School?

A reliable source tells me that the Peoria Police Department was called by a parent of a seven year old Glen Oak School student who was allegedly pushed to the ground by a teacher. However, just because the police was called does not make it a fact. Perhaps the pjstar will pick up on this story in a couple of days and give us more info.

Glen Oak is already undergoing an investigation around the children that where allegedly told to make like Little Red Riding Hood and walk to grandma's house in Pekin and now this?

It would appear that the closer Glen Oak gets to their new school coming to fruition, the further away they are getting from being the trustworthy stewards of our children that we need them to be.

This incident DID NOT happen. Completely fabricated story by the child. The child walked out of the classroom without permission and the teacher called the office to inform them of the situation. The child NEVER returned to the classroom. The teacher had another adult and a room full of children for witnesses. This child probably spent the afternoon roaming the halls of Glen Oak because Shipp doesn't want to leave her air conditioned office...

Methinks Shipps days are numbered. She is not fit to be around children.

I would find it hard to believe that a teacher actually knocked a seven year old to the ground. Good for the teacher that she had a classroom full of witnesses.

With all of the bad press Ship is getting, you may be right about her days being numbered Anonymous. Perhaps she will retire just to relieve the school of all the controversy surrounding her management style (or lack thereof depending on who you are talking to).

Shipp blames the students' lack of discipline on the teachers. The reality of it is that she will NOT support the teachers when an issue arises. If a child is running around your classroom punching children and you "pull the chord" to the office and ask for help, no one will come OR the child leaves (only after the teacher wastes MORE learning time writing a FULL PAGE referral). If the teacher hasn't had an afterschool detention with this child, he/she will be send back with NO consequences. Now, the teacher can't keep a child after school without parent permission, so if the parent refuses to take your phone calls or outright says no, what are this teachers options? The other children see this and more discipline problems develop. Please don't criticize these poor teachers in D150 schools that are lead by "less than mediocre" administrators. The teachers can only be as great as their leadership.

Dr. Hannah is no longer around to protect Shipp and to praise her for being his "closer". Tim for the "ship to sail away".

I am so grateful for Emerge and other bloggers who allow everyone to have input in the effort to get to the truth--and to allow us to weigh what we hear to get a better idea of what we think is the truth. I can't help but believe that District 150 will improve as they get the idea that they might as well be as up front as they can legally be in letting us know what is going on in 150 schools. By the way part of Monday's meeting (and soon to be all) is now on video on Channel 31's website--as it will be for every board meeting from now on. Compliments with cooperation between WMBD and DistrictWatch.

retaliation by shipp has already begun. Lord protect the glen oak staff and students from shipps wrath.

Retaliation by Shipp already? If this is true, Dr. Lathan needs to put a stop to it immediately. I don't understand why Mrs. Shipp is allowed to get away with such behavior yet administators that question unethical and illegal behavior are fired. What am I missing?

Dr. Lathan has an opportunity to create a new culture at D150. I hope she takes advantage of this opportunity.

I believe that Dr. Lathan will do the right thing by the parents, students, and teachers of D150 and send Shipp packing.....and dont let her come back as a consultant for Edison for gosh sakes.

Shipp was put on paid administrative leavethis afternoon. for her lack of professional leadershipand subordination towards HER superiors......Thank you Dr. Lathan from all the teachers and students at glen oak school.

"towards HER superiors"...

You mean it wasn't for mistreating her Staff and letting the children run wild, as has been alleged?

I wonder what DeWanye Bartles thinks.

emerge: I was saying what you said but in a nicer way.

Maybe what I suggested under the latest topic about Shipp is in error--maybe the insuborination wasn't related to how she treats her staff and handles students. I just thought maybe she had been given some directives to behave differently and that she failed to follow those orders. Either way--maybe the situation will be handled.

You people need to have all the facts before speaking...the air doesn't even work in Mrs. Shipp's office. And she was in a princpal's meeting when this happen. So get the facts before speaking because you look real dumb if you don't

The insider...
You say didn't touch the child but how did the bruise show up the child??? If you had more control maybe you wouldn't have to hit/push children!!!

Anonymous said...

my guess, the bruises showed up from Fuller dragging the child down the hallway to the office.....her technique......oh, did I mention, she has NO QUALIFICATIONS for even being in the school. Her job was made up by Shipp to keep her with her from the Franklin Edison days. This woman, Fuller told the teachers what they could and could not do. She held the keys to get back into the building after school. (Teachers were forced to stand on the playground, regardless of the weather, until EVERY child was gone, even if their own students were gone). I saw teachers standing in the freezing rain with no umbrella, while shipp stood in the window of her office smiling. God failed to give her any milk of human kindness when she was born.

I've heard this story from other sources--about an unofficial, uncertified person who was given far too much authority at Glen Oak. If teachers had reported this before, why did it go unheeded. And if teachers didn't report it, why? This is a very strange case!

Surprised???? said...

Sharon- Are you reaaly surprised that the previous administration allowed this person to work with the chidren even though she was uncertified? What union did she belong to?

fuller did not belong to any bargaining unit. she was given a special title by shipp so she could stay. she made more money than home school facilitators and clerks. she was rude on the telephone and treated most everyone with distain. had no business working with children. glad she is gone too.
