Since the last tally: Peoria has had another homicide; 11 more reports of shots fired; numerous reports of armed robberies and stick-ups of citizens; and a report of a group of armed men dressed in black roaming Trewyn Avenue.Once upon a time I believed that the only news was what I heard reported on the news, or read in the newspaper. However, after spending some time listening to the local police scanner, I know that stories DO GO UNREPORTED...

I always wonder why the PJS prints stories about crimes that occur in Chicago and other places not in the Peoria area but fail to print the news about events in Peoria.
The shootings at Agatucci's and at Landmark are posted on the PJS website.
While I'm not defending them on their choice of stories to print/publish, chances are with the PJS's lower number of staff, it's probably taking longer to get their news on the web. But then, some of us have also complained about too much negative news vs. positive news.
No matter how negative, if it's news, it's news. This morning is the first time the Agatucci incident was mentioned in the paper and on the radio (not sure about TV coverage). It happened Saturday night. If Emerge was able to listen to a scanner to get the news, certainly the news media should have even better access to news. This wasn't an ordinary robbery and it did spill out into a residential area.
I agree Sharon.
Dennis, don't you think this is a little different from sensationalizing a fight amongst high school students.
While I appreciate the Aggatuccis feeling like they need to protect themselves, there are laws against running down the street shooting at people (that's what thugs do).
The law says that there are consequences that they should have have to face, especially since there was damage done to vehicles. Fortunately they did not shoot an innocent bystander.
I can't believe that they won't, at least, get a citation of some sort. I am not sure that protecting one's property means chasing the robbers down a residential street.
Emerge, I don't agree, however, that the Peoria High fight was sensationalized--it was news, also. Of course, it didn't happen on a weekend when the PJS writers aren't working.
Somewhere in Peoria, Don Jackson is doing nothing. Hmmm...
Even if the Agatucci owners have up-to-date FOID cards, they could (or should) get charged with reckless discharge of a weapon...even if they fired in the air.
Don Jackson has not been involved with the PHS fight, as far as I know, so don't go there, Anonymous.
