On Saturday, April 16, 2011, District 150 had a Gearing Up for Kindergarten (Transition Fair) at the Hult Health Education Center. Kudos to the District, it was a good event, a chance to get parents and students excited.
The event offered families the chance to set appointments for screenings and immunizations, participate in lead screenings, participate in parent and student health education activities, register for school, and win door prizes. They had vans picking folks up at Glen Oak, Harrison, Taft and Valeska Hinton and delivered them to the Hult Health Education Center (whose moto is "Lessons for Healthy Lives"). Unfortunately, they missed an opportunity to give a very important lesson in healty eating, by serving chips and some other food stuff from a local rib joint.

Complaining about the food that was served? Really?
Yes, really.
Fruit, milk and other healthy snacks would have been a great example in healthy eating for a population in which diabeties is so prevelant.
Gahh, it's just no pleasing youu people. One day I'm a lapdog for Grenita, the next I complain to much. Which is it?
I attended the parent forum at Richwoods this evening, where Cindy Clark was in attendance. I learned that the deans will become assistant principals at Richwoods and Central. The administrative team will be the same at Manual due to the school model. They also discussed a new evaluation tool for teachers and principals and the fact that many teachers are being sent to various trainings for IB and AP.
My favorite quote from Dr. Lathan this evening was, "Every child is entitled to a quality teacher." Let's see if the walk matches the talk.
Is this the same Cindy Clark that was fired from Notre Dame High School several years ago? Wonder if the real reason for her firing will ever become public?
Anonymous, sounds as though you are just itching to make it public. Maybe she had a "without cause" clause in her contract, also.
Hey Sharon - that was a good one!
I have never said you were a lap dog for anyone.
... no, it wasn't you walk of shame...
