From MSNBC: Many believe Thursday's shootings and murder date back to December 2010, when police say Keith Long shot Terry Nichols at the Village Green Apartments because of a fight over a girlfriend.
Police say several acts of violence have come from the feud between Nichols and Long.
In December, a drive-by shooting at 1311 N. North Street nearly killed Kenya Wilson's 3-year-old after he was shot in head while sleeping.
Police say Wilson dated Keith Long's brother and that the bullet was intended for Long.
Then on Thursday the same home on North Street shot at again, this time no one injured.
Instead, a bullet from the drive-by at 1031 E. Behrends Ave. tears through the upstairs wall, killing 8-year-old Albert Billups-Wilson while he was sleeping.
Neighbors say Billup's mother, Latisha Wilson is related to Kenya Wilson. Police recovered shot-gun casings from both scenes Thursday.

Again, how often do you hear about law abiding citizens getting their houses shot up? Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Anonymous, we all had those suspicions (or many of us did). However, an innocent 8-year-old was still killed, so we don't need to find a way to keep from having sympathy by placing the blame.
Yes, all too often, people do not trust the law to bring about justice--they wish to pursue justice (or revenge) in their own way.
Sharon, you sure got that right.
Last year, many homicide victims were killed because of disputes (including a cell phone), or family feud (as in this case); 6 were killed by arson fire, including 2 caucasians.
Gun violence is not always due to gangs. But some posters see the pictures of victims and/or suspects and jump to that conclusion.
Thanks to Emerge for the straight story.
Thanks to Ms, Emerge and all of you who supports her. To bad the blogs are not more accessible to others in the community who can benefit from it.
What is frustrating is that there have been 63 shootings, 47 stabbings. It takes the death of an 8 year old to get the city's attention. the other 109 people apparantly are irrelevant, as are the ones shot since then. The focus is subsidizing developer buddies vs. the safety of the citizens. There is no excuse.
"the other 109 people apparently are irrelevant"
If they are not in the 5th district then yes, they are irrelevant. Even the 8 year old will be quickly forgotten.
Having marchs and vigils outside the 5th district will likewise be ignored.
Move the vigils to the end of the council person's driveway (staying in the public right of way and taking care not to mess with people's property), then you might get their attention when you make it difficult to leave for work. If some politician cries about it being out of line to impose into their private lives, ask them where was their defense of your private space, when they cut the police force. Note of course the omnipresent police officer that will soon be there while someone in the east bluff wonders when their officer will arrive. The police will be there to monitor and disperse those holding vigil while some homeowner south of Forest Hill wonders when if ever the police will monitor and disperse the thugs that impose on them night and day.
Sad story in the Journal Star this morning. Sad that Albert's mother made a fool a herself, yelling and screaming. Heard from someone that was there that left because they felt like there was people "packin" at the funeral and afraid fights was about to brake out. RIP Albert, where your at was better than were you was.
