Go to Church this Sunday with the Superintendent of Schools

Superintendent of Schools, Grenita Lathan spoke at the HOPE Christian Ministries Women's Day event, which was held at Grace Baptist Church, in late October 2010. The young lady doing the introduction of Grenita Lathan in the first video, is Sophia, the secretary to LaToy Kennedy. In the first video, Sophia's introduction ends at about the 6:32 mark.

The Superintendent gave a sermon on restoration, change and faith. She also passed out a CD that she produced that had "inspirational words", set to all of her favorite old time gospel music. To all of you 150 employees and followers who need just a few more words of inspiration from Dr. Lathan - enjoy.

Chris Coplan filming the spectacle after being told it's part of his duties listed under "other." (Copy of video was on Grenade's desk early Monday morning so she could review who did -- versus who did not --clap and AMEN at the appropriate times.]

Ladies told not to use Thinking Maps in their break-out sessions without the express written consent of and payment in full to LaToy Kennedy. (That's LaToy -- sound asleep in the back row.)

Conference Bibles brand new with supplemental maps provided by Mr. Bowinkle -- one of the many perks provided to the church by the book salesman after he raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars selling the district social studies books -- books that teachers were never given the opportunity to preview.

Congregation much praised for its willingness to give up an extra half hour of their personal time for the offeratory -- the second passing.

CD's -- although illegally bootlegged -- were signed and for sale in the church lobby.

Church busses were running 1/2 hour late. Several of the congregation not even picked up. They called and were told they'd be put on the minister of transportation's waiting list.

I felt she was almost bragging that her mother was a single mother and she was raised with the help of her grandmother. Is she promoting unwed motherhood? Not once did she mention a father or grandfather. I think she could have left that out of her "sermon". While many, many children are raised by "single" moms, very few reach HER level of accomplishment (tongue in cheek). She is quite full of herself and isn't afraid to toot her own horn, is she?

In fairness, Lathan apparently didn't follow that pattern as she has a husband and her daughter has a father.
