Teachers are conducting their evaluation of Lathan, teachers union President Bob Darling told District 150 board members Monday. Lathan and board members will receive the evaluation and Lathan will have 90 days to respond . The teachers' evaluation of Lathan will not be made public, Darling said, "because it's a personnel issue." Source
If the results of last week's poll question about the Superintendent of Schools and her administration is any indicator, we can pretty much guess what the teacher's evaluation will look like.
The poll reveals that 8% of respondents believe the Super has found it and a over whelming 91% believes that she has...

Lots of chatter from the Union but no action. Where's the beef?
I think teachers should be able to evaluate the principal at their school.
For years, teachers have been evaluating Principals. However, it is at the end of the year when everybody is mad. Principals never get a good evaluation from teachers. Responses about the Principal are always "picky" with no substance. Teachers don't put their name on the survey so, it is impossible for meaningful dialog to happen if their are areas that a teacher/teachers find that need attention.
The Principals rarely take them seriously because one of the responsibilities of a teacher is not to evaluate their Principal. See job description.
I heard some principal reassignments were determined last night. Anyone heard who and where?
The HR Report that is supposed to be added to the BOE's Meeting Schedule, next to the Agenda for last night is not there yet. Interesting.
I know they have previously evaluated principals, but it needs to be taken seriously. It still needs to be done and the results given to the BOE and then try to get something done about reassigning the principal who doesn't get a good eval. I know one HS that has half their staff looking elsewhere due to the principal and assistants who don't know what they are doing.
An atmosphere of accountability. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
So . . .
Who was held accountable for students not having the appropriate textbooks until 3/4 the way through the year?
Who was held accountable for the bus debacle -- kids not able to get to school because their busses wouldn't show up?
Who was held accountable for the PD the junior high teachers were to attend at the admin building? The PD that was cancelled via GroupWise at 9am the day of the training -- after the teachers had shown up? Who was held accountable for the subs needlessly hired for that day? And for rescheduling the training to days later?
Who was held accountable for the scheduling snafu at Woodruff today - kids showed up only to have to return to their home schools because of a "scheduling oversight"?
Who is being held accountable for the thousands upon thousands of dollars being spent on Patent University? You know, for the meetings that average four attendees???
Who is being held responsible for the Title II funds being spent on administrators who fly to conferences on the district's dime only to attend one of three days at the conference and the rest of the time doing. . . um . . . who knows what. (Anyone have the time to FOIA how Title II funds are being spent?)
Who is being held accountable for the dismal district-wide morale brig fostered by Grenita?
Who is being held accountable for the widespread violence in our schools?
Who is being held accountable for hiring an elementary principal to oversee Manual restructure?
Who is being held accountable for misusing special Ed fund on gen Ed programs?
Who is being held responsible for spending Title 2 funds for teacher development on student technology (or Pinpoint)
Who is being held responsible for firing and demoting people handpicked?
Who is being held responsible for shuffling administrators and not posting job openings?
Who is being held responsible for allowing NC employees to work from home or not work (check out LaToys first year report of days worked in district) but penalize Peorians such as Kevin for attending events such as his own child's wedding.
I can tell you who isn't being held accountable.
Can I get an AMEN?
AMEN!
The honorable President Darling is only as good as the teachers and staff that back him up. I think he needs a standing ovation for the work he has done to try and remove te super. He has the guts to stand up to Lathan and Butler where the principals are afraid: they could lose their jobs. The grapevine says that some principals are backing the union. Some of the board members are interested.
Who were the other principal's that are going to be moved and why? Does anyone know what school Coleman is going to be reassigned to?
Keep feeding the board members (sans Buttler and Wolfman Jack) what you know.
Wolfman Jack won't listen to anyone. She is to blame for many things. She does not understand the concept of being the "boss" over the superintendent. She allowed Hinton to keep making mistake after mistake and she' doing the same thing with Lathan.

What I have heard is Branscomb to Glen Oak, Brown to RMS, no word on Coleman.
I would LOVE IT if some of you would do the following: google "Arne Duncan" and "Michelle Rhee Washington D.C.". Read some of Duncan's speeches and look at Ms. Rhee's approach to "change" in education, then PLEASE weigh in! By the way, I'm for neither political party...I'm an Independent, voting for people I hope will get the job done. I'm only asking that people in Peoria look up the facts! Can't wait to hear from some of you....
Lathan is a hack. She constantly tells principals that they are too close to their teachers. She wants no relationship between principals and staff. Yet Reverend Butler (her boss) and Dr. Lathan practically snuggle at board meetings. What's up with that??? What's good for the moose is good for the gander.
Lathan openly talked about receiving Butler's church property as a gift since it is so close to Peoria High and gifting some place like Blaine back to Butler's church. The fact that those two women do not see anything wrong with an insider deal such as that speaks volumes of their lack of regard for legal processes and clearly established church/state boundaries.
Now,now bloggers..remember?"It's all about the children." The good "Reverend" wouldn't do such a thing, would she?
We need to band together as a community and get rid of the current school board, one board memeber at a time. The people need to yell get out loud and clear. It is so obvious that this school board does not have our best interests at the top of their agenda. With that said will you community members ban together to get rid of these worthless people. Our school district is the shambles and it's their fault. They hired the tyrant and they must fire her. If not we must fire them. Please speak out. We are losing our district. We are losing good community people moving to avoid placing their children in our district. Do your research! Look at the numbers!!! This school board if allowed will take down Peoria. Think about it. When we lose families to enroll their students outside of 150 we lose their tax dollars and revenue!!!! This school board is killing us!!! We are going to have to make up for the outgoing families. Are you seriously ready for that sort of tax hike??? I can't afford it, can you??
Lathan's arrogance will get the best of her. She'll get caught with her hand in the cookie jar. She says openly in meetings how SHE will spend grant money not how it is INTENDED to be spent. She will even tell some people to "cover their ears".
I guess Dr. Kennedy's taking 2 weeks off for her daughter's wedding. She has an awful lot of vacation days. What was that new buzz word BOE?? Accountability? Must not apply to NC staff.
Kennedy took over 30 days off her first year. She took nearly a week off for her birthday.
Shameful. What a scam.
I heard zhe took the week of her birthday off so she could go visit the Hello Kitty factorh in Indonesia....
Grenita authorized payment for LaToy to get her superintendent's endorsement on tax dollars in her first year there. Lots of folks thought it was b/c she was going to put her in once she whacked Michelle.
Sure hope her contract extension talks are going well!
I heard today that besides the seniors at Manual having their senior picnic at Bradley Park that almost the whole school went to Wild Life Prairie Park for the day. Who paid for this? Was it out of a grant or Manual funds? If it was out of a grant why didn't the other high schools get to do the very same thing. If it was out of Manual money they must have come into lots of funds as I also heard that the students were rewarded this year for their attendance, getting to school on time, showing up for the ACT review, taking tests, and many other things. Where is all the money coming from?
Perhaps their $2 million grant?
Heard today that Irving (which was slated to close during the spring 2013) is closing in December - teachers are expected to teach & pack. Also heard no principal at Irving for first semester. Would that fly on the other side of town?
Heard it thru grapevine (props to my guy Marvin), that the teacher's union rallying on Tuesday 5 pm with a whole mess of issues to moan, groan about (wonder how many are about teachers and how many against Lathan and the Board, or parents that don't do enough for their kids?) Don't know where, my source didn't say, except it was the PFT doing it. Anyone else get an earful about this rally?
Probably at the Board meeting.
Heard it through the grapevine, er, I mean NC transplantees. If you were a member of the union, you would have your own answers.
Surely that is not true about Irving. I mean no principal and closing in December??!? That makes ZERO sense which probably means both statements are true. Lathan seems to put ideas on the table and NC cronies vote...which is the most ridiculous? The one that wins is the first thing she implements. No books for the new reading intervention for the first six to seven weeks??? Bwahaha let's do it! Wait, wait, I've got one! Let's take esteemed educators who have been with the district for years and years and let's give them out of reach goals and when they fail,we will demote them. Bwahaha let's do it!
The woman is crazy and out of control. Please, Lord, deliver her somewhere else. Somewhere away from children because, ultimately, it is their lives she is damaging.
