Will Lathan and Butler remain besties? Will Grenita still want Butler's daughter to refer to her as "Auntie Nita" and her husband as "Uncle Al" Will Chris be invited to the Hello Kitty sleepovers?
Everybody voted for Cloyd. Petelle mentioned that she and Cloyd never agree on anything, but that he will be a good vice-president because he always listens to her. Wouldn't we be more informed if we knew about what they always disagree? It might help us understand why they all vote "yes" on every issue.
I agree, Sharon. They need to have some type of dialogue. I remember former BOEs where they talked to one another. Maybe this will get Crawford to attend all of the meetings.
Wonder which farmer dug up, threw in a bunch of cow droppings into this meeting? Because what happened sure damn stinks as much! Ms. Ross should have had it, what the sam heck do rest of that bunch have against her? And that quote from Crawford? About teachers' bein' the backbone, and he be listenin', workin' with them? Well, well, Mr. newly-elected Prez, where the h*** have you been last year or so? Any of you numerous Anonymous teachers in D150 been able to talk, meet with him since he been on Board?
You guys wouldn't like anything this Board did if they offered a new rope to hang them with, you'd still all bitch. The Board doesn't run anything. They merely hire those to run the District, adjust their pay, and vote on policies presented by staff. None on the School Board get paid (just a free meal) and yet with all the bitching and moaning, I don't see a line of people trying to remove these people. The fact that Ross has been there 10 years proves no one gives a shit.
What are you doing other than "bitching and moaning" yourself? Are you running for Martha's seat? No, you just bitch and moan about Central and the poor lunch ladies. The fact that Ross has been there 10 years and would be easy to defeat proves you don't give a shit.
Hey Anon whoever you are. I am expressing my opinion under my name. I wouldn't run for a school board seat on a bet because anon idiots like you bitch about everything they do. I want no part of that. As for the cafeteria staff, you need to be there a few times and see the crap they take from the great students this district has. I volunteered in the schools for over 12 years spending many evenings and weekends including Christmas vacation running a concessions for a girls basketball tourney. I have as much right to express my opinion here and at least I don't hide behind a keyboard. Maybe you should read the comments here. Seldom is there anything positive.
"Maybe you should read the comments here. Seldom is there anything positive."
The above Anon is correct you bitch and moan louder and harder than anybody in the Peoria blogosphere.
Seldom do you say anything positive about the schools, the city the people who run the city the people who run the school the buildings in the city the people who build the buildings. So why are you over here on my blog talking this nonsense as if you are above what my commenters and I talk about.
The only difference between you and the people you are trying to slam here is you are not anon and (in your words) "you bitch about everything everybody does." Give us a break.
Since we have a new Board president. Why don't we push that Summit again? Remember, he wants communication. The focus of the Summit is communication, isn't it.
Actually, I would prefer to have Emerge, Emtronics, and Billy Dennis as guests on CAPtions for another "Bloggers Roundtable", possibly in September. Of course, I would be in the control room calling the camera shots. I try not to be on camera unless I absolutely have to.
How in the hell am I louder than anyone else here? Gee Emerge you mad because on my blog they claim you are a race baiting hack? You are. The posts you say are positive here are not.Like cheering for former prison guards to go into the schools? How about going to the population in the black community and t5elling the young girls that having a baby will cost you and not public aid (the working people) and tell them they will be held responsible for their actions as should the father(s). For over 30 years, this country has pour money into every program known in the universe to help those you can't help themselves. Headstart, Early Childhood, Section 8, Link, Medicaid, and on and on. What have we achieved in 30 years? Very little. We have kids as young as 16 who will shoot you for $5. So you here proclaim to have answers like Charter Schools, Qwest, and what else Edison? All waste of money but to appease a small segment of the population that simply won't take responsibility for anything. It is easier to point a finger and when the truth hits, well, then you get pissed. So what? When Lathan came here some years back, you was on her band wagon but from what I read now, nobody seems to approve of her. Go figure. That is why the Board seems to ignore all those in the group that posts here. I was talking to guy at PHS yesterday and they consider your blog the bitch joint of the District. He asked me, ever hear of Emereg? I had to laugh. Maybe Sharon or you or Knapp should run for those seats and really do something. I did my stint in 3 of the toughest schools on the southend and I am done. Sticks and stones love.
I'm listening, but I guess right now I'm not in the mood to get into this fray. As I've always believed, if we can get beyond the rhetoric, I think Emtronics and Emerge, more often than not, are much closer together than either may care to admit. Without the anger or the accusatory tone, I think that Emtronics is right--very little that has been tried has worked. If success is what we're after, many of these programs simply don't seem to be the answer. If we really want the lives of inner city kids to change, then we can't be the ones changing--the kids have to invest in the change themselves. The question is how do we get the kids to want change in their lives? I would give anything to know the answer.
I read both Emerge and Antipundit regularly, post, and usually agree with both of them. I would have to agree with Sharon that you both seem to be on the same page how things aren't right in Peoria. I can't believe y'all are "fighting". Can't we all just get along because you both want the conditions in PSD150 schools to improve.
Quote from Peoria Journal Star: "AS TO TERRY KNAPP: His credibility is nil. He is chronically confrontational for no real productive purpose other than to put himself in the limelight. Oh, yes, of course he speaks at every meeting of D150 Board. A persistent malcontent who needs to step aside and let fresh leadership arise and surpass him in effectiveness, which would not be difficult."
One of your friends Emerge?
I do want District 150 to improve. I think a lot of what they do they do well. It's just that good news doesn't sell well so every bad thing that happens, gets published and then rehashed. I also like the fact that Ross didn't get the President job as even though she has been on the board 10 years, I have listened to her talk behind the scenes when she thought no one was listening. She doesn't deserve the seat and I truly wish someone would run against her in 2013. I think 5 years is way too long for a Board seat anyway. Emerge calls me out? As for what people say about my blog, I could care less. I was really surprised when the gentleman at PHS mentioned your blog as I thought only the 13 or so usual commenter's here read it.
As for "that hateful bunch" over at my blog. I have deleted many hateful posts only in eBlogger, I delete them permanently which shows no sign of a comment. If you just delete it, then there is a message that says: comment deleted by blog administrator. Maybe that is why you don't think I do delete. I have no control over who posts but some say some pretty crappy stuff. Some say some stuff that is borderline. I leave most comments as I hope it gives people reading the desire to think. Maybe not. At any rate, today being my birthday and looking at things happening in my life what with a new granddaughter, my youngest son working in Singapore, planning an out of Peoria, I have killed my blog. Lock stock and barrel. You all have fun fighting the Board and what not. A noble effort to be sure.
Terry Knapp is a taxpayer. He has every right to speak at every board meeting. If all of us on the blog had the guts to speak out like Terry Knapp does maybe we could actually get somewhere.
I would be willing to be money that I don't have that the quote from the PJS article about Terry was written by Jim Stowell--the comment uses all of Jim's favorite words when he talks about Terry--limelight and malcontent." Emtronics, I continue to disagree with your contention that the board is not to blame--they call all the shots with just 5 votes.
I take it you didn't stop to notice the post about "What's Hot on EmergePeoria," - I get more page views in a day than you do in a month, so yeah, at lot more than "only 13 or so usual commenter's here read it". Of course you were surprised when "the gentleman at PHS mentioned" my blog - he's probably a regular reader.
I like this quote: "A persistent malcontent who needs to step aside and let fresh leadership arise and surpass him in effectiveness, which would not be difficult."
Is that what prompted you to do this?: " I have killed my blog. Lock stock and barrel."
I've always had a strong desire for improvements both in the City of Peoria and District 150. Even though I don't live in Peoria, and my children didn't attend Dist. 150. I am sure many other people here want the same. It's just that we disagree on how to achieve those improvements. Or we agree on how to do it, but those in power don't always agree.
Dennis, are you saying there is disagreement here?? My Lord of Lords. Mother Emerge won't like that. She has in fact told me that I should clean up my blog. Well when you're Miss Popular Blog and can brag about page views, I guess you're Billy Dennis material. I just can't measure up to that.
I have read Emtronic's Blog. It is scary that any individual could write so many hateful and mean-spirited things. I am under the impression there is something psychological behind his motivation to use words to beat individuals and groups down. Where is the civility?

The two people who know the least about the District. This makes a lot of sense.
Will Lathan and Butler remain besties? Will Grenita still want Butler's daughter to refer to her as "Auntie Nita" and her husband as "Uncle Al" Will Chris be invited to the Hello Kitty sleepovers?
A 4 - 2 vote.
Let me guess who voted for Ross - Ross & Costic; and who voted for Crawford - Crawford, Cloyd, Butler, Patelle (Wolfmeyer absent).
This Board is just as divided this year as it was last year.
Well, the Board saw the light. Good for them.
Everybody voted for Cloyd. Petelle mentioned that she and Cloyd never agree on anything, but that he will be a good vice-president because he always listens to her. Wouldn't we be more informed if we knew about what they always disagree? It might help us understand why they all vote "yes" on every issue.
complain corporately!
I agree, Sharon. They need to have some type of dialogue. I remember former BOEs where they talked to one another. Maybe this will get Crawford to attend all of the meetings.
Whaaaaaaaa. If I was Martha Ross I'd resign in protest. She won't because she isn't there to do anything.
Wonder which farmer dug up, threw in a bunch of cow droppings into this meeting? Because what happened sure damn stinks as much!

Crawford looked like a baffoon on the news at 5 pm. He does not have a CLUE about education or educational law. God help this district...

Why don't you tell us how you really feel, Em?

And by the way... if you want some commenters to put in check, you might start with that hateful bunch who seems to thrive over on your blog.
Emtronics, aka Peoria Anti-Pundit, some of your input makes Peoria Pundit sound like a jolly whiz-brain! You're great!
Three cheers for Emerge!!!!! It would be interesting to see a debate between "Mr. Optimist" Dennis in Peoria and Emtronics!
Since we have a new Board president. Why don't we push that Summit again? Remember, he wants communication. The focus of the Summit is communication, isn't it.
When is he holding the first board bake sale to help raise funds for the schools?
Actually, I would prefer to have Emerge, Emtronics, and Billy Dennis as guests on CAPtions for another "Bloggers Roundtable", possibly in September. Of course, I would be in the control room calling the camera shots. I try not to be on camera unless I absolutely have to.
It would be nice just to know when the next BOE meeting will be?

As for my blog, I have deleted some really offensive comments but then I believe in freedom of speech. Don't like it? Don't read it.
Wow!!! How about a "chiil Pill", It's not that serious. Life goes on with or without anybody's opinion.
Ladies and gentlemen - Emtronics.
... and as far as this nonsense:
"I was talking to guy at PHS yesterday and they consider your blog the bitch joint of the District. He asked me, ever hear of Emereg? I had to laugh."
Really? You should hear what they say about your blog - you wouldn't laugh.
