Everybody voted for Cloyd. Petelle mentioned that she and Cloyd never agree on anything, but that he will be a good vice-president because he always listens to her. Wouldn't we be more informed if we knew about what they always disagree? It might help us understand why they all vote "yes" on every issue.

I agree, Sharon. They need to have some type of dialogue. I remember former BOEs where they talked to one another. Maybe this will get Crawford to attend all of the meetings.

They merely hire those to run the District, adjust their pay, and vote on policies presented by staff. None on the School Board get paid (just a free meal) and yet with all the bitching and moaning, I don't see a line of people trying to remove these people. The fact that Ross has been there 10 years proves no one gives a shit.

I want no part of that. As for the cafeteria staff, you need to be there a few times and see the crap they take from the great students this district has. I volunteered in the schools for over 12 years spending many evenings and weekends including Christmas vacation running a concessions for a girls basketball tourney. I have as much right to express my opinion here and at least I don't hide behind a keyboard. Maybe you should read the comments here. Seldom is there anything positive.

Actually, I would prefer to have Emerge, Emtronics, and Billy Dennis as guests on CAPtions for another "Bloggers Roundtable", possibly in September. Of course, I would be in the control room calling the camera shots. I try not to be on camera unless I absolutely have to.

The posts you say are positive here are not.Like cheering for former prison guards to go into the schools? How about going to the population in the black community and t5elling the young girls that having a baby will cost you and not public aid (the working people) and tell them they will be held responsible for their actions as should the father(s).
For over 30 years, this country has pour money into every program known in the universe to help those you can't help themselves. Headstart, Early Childhood, Section 8, Link, Medicaid, and on and on. What have we achieved in 30 years? Very little. We have kids as young as 16 who will shoot you for $5.
So you here proclaim to have answers like Charter Schools, Qwest, and what else Edison? All waste of money but to appease a small segment of the population that simply won't take responsibility for anything. It is easier to point a finger and when the truth hits, well, then you get pissed. So what?

I'm listening, but I guess right now I'm not in the mood to get into this fray. As I've always believed, if we can get beyond the rhetoric, I think Emtronics and Emerge, more often than not, are much closer together than either may care to admit. Without the anger or the accusatory tone, I think that Emtronics is right--very little that has been tried has worked. If success is what we're after, many of these programs simply don't seem to be the answer. If we really want the lives of inner city kids to change, then we can't be the ones changing--the kids have to invest in the change themselves. The question is how do we get the kids to want change in their lives? I would give anything to know the answer.
I read both Emerge and Antipundit regularly, post, and usually agree with both of them. I would have to agree with Sharon that you both seem to be on the same page how things aren't right in Peoria. I can't believe y'all are "fighting". Can't we all just get along because you both want the conditions in PSD150 schools to improve.

I do want District 150 to improve. I think a lot of what they do they do well. It's just that good news doesn't sell well so every bad thing that happens, gets published and then rehashed. I also like the fact that Ross didn't get the President job as even though she has been on the board 10 years, I have listened to her talk behind the scenes when she thought no one was listening. She doesn't deserve the seat and I truly wish someone would run against her in 2013. I think 5 years is way too long for a Board seat anyway.
Emerge calls me out? As for what people say about my blog, I could care less. I was really surprised when the gentleman at PHS mentioned your blog as I thought only the 13 or so usual commenter's here read it.
As for "that hateful bunch" over at my blog. I have deleted many hateful posts only in eBlogger, I delete them permanently which shows no sign of a comment. If you just delete it, then there is a message that says: comment deleted by blog administrator. Maybe that is why you don't think I do delete. I have no control over who posts but some say some pretty crappy stuff. Some say some stuff that is borderline. I leave most comments as I hope it gives people reading the desire to think. Maybe not.
At any rate, today being my birthday and looking at things happening in my life what with a new granddaughter, my youngest son working in Singapore, planning an out of Peoria, I have killed my blog. Lock stock and barrel.

I've always had a strong desire for improvements both in the City of Peoria and District 150. Even though I don't live in Peoria, and my children didn't attend Dist. 150. I am sure many other people here want the same. It's just that we disagree on how to achieve those improvements. Or we agree on how to do it, but those in power don't always agree.

I have read Emtronic's Blog. It is scary that any individual could write so many hateful and mean-spirited things. I am under the impression there is something psychological behind his motivation to use words to beat individuals and groups down. Where is the civility?
