Please send prayerful thoughts to Sharon Crews

Lately I had been missing Sharon Crews' dialogue in comments and imagined that she was probably out swimming and playing with her "pretend grand kids." Unfortunately, that's not the case. Sharon, our local advocate for teachers and better schools, is currently undergoing some very serious health issues.

Sharon, your absence is hurting the dialogue. If you don't come out, Jon won't come out and then we see less of Frustrated. In other words, my page views are down! Namaste'

I was just wondering this morning where she had been hiding herself. Sharon: Thoughts and prayers are coming your way. Get better and get back to the blogs. :)

We're all praying and rooting for her. Sharon has spent her entire life in service to others - hopefully now she won't be too proud and defiant to let her friends help her.

Thanks everyone--to say that I appreciate your comment, Jim, would be an understatement. I am definitely not too proud or defiant :) to accept kind words from someone with whom I engaged in so much verbal battle. I do have lung cancer--some ugly mass wrapped around the bronchus. However, I learned today after a PET scan that the cancer has spread only into the left femur bone. My own prayer is that God will continue to give me His strength and grace to deal with whatever is in store for me. Having never suffered poor health as have so many, I am amazed at how many caring people surround me. Six months ago I decided to get on Facebook to find as many of my former students as I could find. I didn't realize that effort would prove such a blessing to me now. For any of you doubt that Manual High School was populated by many wonderful kids over many years--think again. And Jim just reinforced that truth.

Speaking of my pretend grandchildren, here is a quote from tomorrow's PJS from Mahliyah, who has attened Bradley's Forensics Camp for the last two weeks: Mahliyah Adkins-Threats already has seen this community; she'll soon be a senior at Richwoods High School in Peoria. But she said the institute has been a great way to learn to communicate clearly.
Not to mention fearlessly. "It's a skill you can use your whole life," she said.

Sharon, the Lord has control over everything. There is healing in the precious bloood of Jesus. Keep your eyes on Him and not the disease. God be with you in your healing.

I’m not sure what else to say that hasn’t already been said by your many friends above and whose sentiments I share. I know that you’ll take on this challenge with strength and grace. I do remember a quote that might appeal to the English teacher in you. Cancer is a word, not a sentence.

Wishing you all the best, Sharon.

Again thanks to all of you for your good thoughts and prayers. I am still being tested to find out where this disease is hiding--should be time to start treatment soon.
