About one-third of the Loucks School building is currently being demolished, leaving about 55,000 square feet for use by the Quest Charter Academy High School. The part being demolished is the oldest section of the building, which was built in 1914. The new high school should be a good look for the neighborhood. (click images to enlarge). Hat tip to Bree for the photos.

I saw what was left of the stage this morning - big gold "L" on dark blue banner across the top.
Is Loucks the Quest high school? I thought Columbia was having grades 8 and 9 this year.
Seventh- and eighth-graders, along with the new ninth-grade class, will attend school in the Loucks building.
My mother rode to Loucks in a horse and buggy to go to school. A friend who is my age has fond memories of the stage and all the productions put on by students.
I drove by the old Loucks School this morning. The demolition of the old building does not look safe for staff or students. Maybe the students at Quest are different from other adolescents in the world and will not tamper with the rubble. Kids are curious and certainly will not let such a sight lay without some intrusion. Parents please make an effort to gain assurance from the administration and the Board at Quest Academy that your children are safe.
