You see, approximately four (4) years ago, it was 2008 and George W. Bush and that irascible, war monger, Dick Cheney (let's not forget him) were still in the process of running this country into the ground. Where was the Tea Party when we needed them?
It took Dubba eight (8) years to tear down everything that America stood for, prior to his taking office. My thinking is, it will take President Obama at least that long to make a real difference...

As president, Bush pushed through a $1.3 trillion tax cut program and the No Child Left Behind Act, and also pushed for socially conservative efforts such as the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act and faith-based welfare initiatives. Nearly 8 million immigrants came to the United States from 2000 to 2005 – more than in any other five-year period in the nation's history. Almost half entered illegally.
After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Bush declared a global War on Terrorism and, in October 2001, ordered an invasion of Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban, destroy Al-Qaeda, and to capture Osama bin Laden. In March 2003, Bush received a mandate from the U.S. Congress to lead an invasion of Iraq, asserting that Iraq was in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1441.
The approval ratings of George W. Bush have, at different points in time, run the gamut from high to all-time record low. Bush began his presidency with ratings near 50%. In the time of national crisis following the September 11 attacks, polls showed approval ratings of greater than 85%, peaking in one October 2001 poll at 92%, and a steady 80–90% approval for about four months after the attacks.
Afterward, his ratings steadily declined as the economy suffered and the Iraq War initiated by his administration continued. By early 2006, his average rating was near 40%, and in July 2008, a poll indicated a near all-time low of 22%. Upon leaving office the final poll recorded his approval rating as 19%, a record low for any U.S. President. Source

The first night of the Democratic Convention was engaging to say the least.
It's unfortunate if people of the Repub persuasion don't take the opportunity to watch the Democratic Convention. I watched the Republican Convention because I wanted to learn about their view on issues.
I saw Ann Romney speak, I saw the First Lady of the United States speak. Both dynamic speakers who had something relevant to add.
Am I better off? Yes, without a doubt.
Ann Romney's Twitter mentions nearly doubled after her speech, with the most tweets per minute occurring when Mitt Romney walked on stage to hug her after she was done - 6,195 tweets per minute.
There were 28,003 tweets per minute at the conclusion of Michelle Obama's remarks. That's about double the number after Romney's acceptance speech last week, which was 14,289 tweets per minute at its peak.
I am absolutely better off than I was 4 years ago...and my 401k has nearly doubled.
Definitely worse. Can't wait for Mitt to take over in '13. Not my first choice but better than the failed crypto-socialism we've had for 3 1/2 years. All Barry (and some other people) can do is b-b-b-blame Bush.
Blame Bush? It was Bill Clinton who ruied this country by signing NAFTA at the time the Dummycrats controled the house and senate look it up. Slick Willy had our military under supplied and understaffed. I don't like mitt and i don't like Obummer. i hate the fact that pissed uneducated people are going to the polls. nobody looks into who they are voting for. look into the history of the country the country was better off with an ugly president. Give me an ugly guy without a law degree and a work ethic to vote for and i wont care what party he is in. Give me a guy who has had a shovel in his hand for more than a ground breaking on a building and that is the guy we need running things.
You conveniently left out that Bush had not only the lowest approval rating ever but also the highest approval rating ever.
Although approval ratings are mostly bullshit. I mean Jimmy Carter had a higher approval than Clinton ever did..
I don't know who is to blame but I am far worse off today than i was four years ago. Everything is so costly and i haven't had a cost of living increase since 2006.
Worse off.

NOPE. Everything is more expensive. Just wait another 6 months and food is going to skyrocket now too!
I am the same but I believe the nation is better off. I have been a republicn since 1972 but I will vote for the President again. Why? He and his wife know what it is to struggle and work for what they have. They feel real to me. I think America needs to have a President who can relate to all of our nation not just the wealthy.
worse. costs rising much faster than income. too many people have a reliance on hand-outs, not help-ups.
Obama got us out of Iraq. We should never have been in Iraq in the first place.
Obama got bin laden. We are all better off.
The nation is worse off than four years ago. The question is who is to blame?
The late 2008 downturn came near the end of Bush 43's last term. Bush 43 had been president for eight years, had unemployment below 5% for two years (2006 and 2007). The downturn came about as major banks got into trouble after investing in subprime mortgages.
The economies of the US and Europe were already realing from a spike in gas prices. The consequential downturn led to soft demand for manufactured goods, such as automobiles (SUV's, pickup trucks, etc.). Ford Motor Company saw the writing on the wall and took drastic action; Daimler-Chrysler and GM did not.
That a deepening recession loomed was best indicated by a rapid decline in fuel prices from mid-2008.
By late September, Bush warned the nation that a major financial crisis was beginning to grip the nation, threatening to a banking crisis a la the Great Depression. This led to TARP, the infamous bank bailout. In December, Bush announced that TARP funds would go to bailout the automobile industry (recall who likes to take credit).
TARP was supposed to fix things, but it did not. The nation lost confidence, and the recession deepened.
Barack Obama and his Democrats clearly benefited from the downturn. When in office, Obama and Congress passed the $800 billion "stimulus", which was promised to keep unemployment below 8%. It didn't.
The national unemployment rate got up to 10% in October 2009. It fell slightly for a few months, then rose again to 9.9% in April 2010. The rate declined steadily following the extension of the Bush tax cuts (1-1-11) to 8.1% in April 2012. It has since risen slightly, likely due to the incertainty over the presidential election, Dodd-Frank financial regulations, this spring's spike in fuel prices and SCOTUS upholding ObamaCare.
Basically, Obama could not keep his promise to fix the US economy. That was obvious to those of us who knew big spending and deficits ("trickle down government") would not solve the problem. Obama's threat to increase taxes on "The Rich" and implement ObamaCare (and the new taxes and regulations that go with it) and the Euro crisis is sending us into yet another recession, probably a deep one. Re-electing Obama will only worsen the situation.
Are we better off morally and spiritually as well as financially? Are we more or less united?
Four back surgery's and a equal amount of years of being unemployed, while President Obama has been in the White House? Yes, I can say without a doubt that I'm 100 percent better off than when I had my first 6 years ago when Bush was there.
I'm now back on my feet and back in the workforce. I have no medical bills hunting me and running my own business. Without a doubt.
2 ANON
Wasn't Obummer in Washington D.C. When Bin Laden was shot. I thought it was SEAL team 6 that got him.
Okay, meanjarhead, you win. And Bush didn't get saddam hussein.
Let's not forget to mention how obama increased the time for collecting unemployment. Yeah, that really helped the economy. NO, I am not better off, my 401K is exactly where it was almost 4 years ago, even though I have continued to pay into it. Guess my money is going to take care of all the WONDERFUL obama supporters, who won't work for less that a quarter of a million dollars a year (even though they only have an 8th grade education)....everybody wants to be Russell Simmons....lol
2 ANON that was a E3 Taking a leak and finding a covered hole. I hate it when people who where not there take credit for what other people did. But i blame Clinton for cutting the military and sending us around the world to feed people who where shooting at us.
Everything went into the abyss when Reagan left.
Some things are better some are worse. Seems things I can control are better. Things any form of government (local, state, federal) has control of are worse.
NOBAMA_
If your 401k is the exact same as it was 4 years ago and you have continued to put money in then I would question your investments and not blame Obama. The stock market was at 7949.09 when Obama took office...today it is at over 13,000.
And can I just say...it seems that the same conservatives who complain about a large gov't are the same ones who complain that the large gov't hasn't done enough for them.
NOBAMA - all politics aside, if your 401k is at the same level it was 4 years ago then something is seriously wrong with your 401k. Suggest some professional advice.
Too bad Bush didn't come to the Republican convention to remind us how good we had it when he was in office.
Better off. Four more years of this administration is a MUST. As Clinton mentioned in his speech last night, this President inherited the biggest mess of any President in history.
Let's all remember that Barry had a 'Crat majority in both houses until the end of 2010. He and the 'Crats had a free hand to do as they pleased. No excuses.
And indeed Barry inherited a mess. Whether it was B-B-Bush's fault or just Clinton era policies finally coming home to roost remains quite questionable. Part of Bush's fault is he didn't push harder to repeal some of the 'Crat loan policies.
Bill Clinton: "I did NOT have sex with that woman".....
I'm sure his BS speech was MAGNIFICENT....bahahahaha...sucka
All this commentary aside, I will respond to Vonster. Bush had control over everything for 8 years and yet abortion wasn't stopped and now that is a big issue with Romney and company. Why is that? It is because the American people will believe what they hear over and over not matter how much bullshit is involved. So out come the bible toting anti-abortion conservatives yelling that God needs to be back in the schools and the flag waving duped masses follow like sheep.
1st. I went to public schools k thru 12 and never once did we in a class crack open a bible or did we pray for anything. So God can't go back to a place he never was in the first place. Just GOP hype.
2nd. Dubbya and his cronies did indeed lie to the American people about WMDs and Iraq and they trashed this country. To expect any President to fix this mess in less than 4 years is unreasonable. In fact even on Fox News after Obama's first 100 days, they were saying Obama was a failure for not fixing everything. In a 100 days!
The fact remains, if you want to go back to that era of trickle down vote GOP. They have no plan and no numbers to go with it.
If you want to move forward, then vote Obama. At least they know math and have a plan.
Randall: you are too fu.ny. See, even morons like you can run for office. God bless the USA
He's just trying to make nice with Debbie Blabbermouth. If I didn't know better I'd say he's trolling.
The speeches delivered at the DNC caused me to think, how does one become great orators like those speakers? Then I realized, it starts in speech and debate classes.
I wonder are our speech/debate teachers honing our students oratorical skills?
Great orators at the DNC? More like con artists.....REALLY!
Obama is one of the worst presidents in US history. Some you may be better off, but a lot of folks are not, particularly Women, Blacks, Latinos and young people. I think a lot of 20008 Obama supporters will hit the voting booth and vote for Romney. Yes, they can! Obama had his chance; time for him to go.
