This is the second homicide since Peoria instituted its "Don't Shoot" campaign to curb gun violence. Authorities responded to a call of shots fired just before midnight Wednesday night. When they arrived, police found a male with gunshot wounds outside an apartment at the River West apartment complex. He was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later.Source

What a crock, Peace rallies, peace marches, The police pulling people over for cracked wind shields and The shootings are still going on. You would think that with so many people trying to make this a better world somebody would take pride in their home and help out.
And Don Jackson is still silent...
I'm curious... What do you think Don Jackson should be saying?
Anything? He has been completely silent about the actual issues plaguing the black community in Peoria.
But be sure - as soon as a gang banger gets roughed up by Peoria PD, Don will be there leading the march.
The last time Don Jackson said something he gave PPD his blessing to stop and frisk anybody they thought might be up to no good, or in a place they shouldn't be.
From what I understand, his efforts are under cover of meetings with the Mayor and Police Chief.
I guess you all missed the story from last week about the white prostitute and two white guys who were with her when she killed the former IVC (I think) school teacher in Ken Hinton's home town of Mapleton. :) Also, wasn't a black guy's house raided by mistake--I didn't hear about Don Jackson coming to his defense--at least, not yet.
I love what you're doing here. There was a void for this kind of voice in Peoria. Keep up the good work.
what should Don Jackson be saying? How about standing up for the value of education? How about working with the other community leaders and having parents enforce curfew and if they won't the police will? Not all of these kids out running around tonight are vandals, although I do hear car alarms going off, but even if they are good kids, TIRED CHILDREN DON"T LEARN!!!!! Whether a traditional stereotypical welfare queen or a soccer mom/dad, it is the parents' (note plural)responsibility to raise their children properly. You don't need a dime of cash to instill a work ethic, manners, responsible behavior, etc. You want to deter crime, then parents need to stop raising (note: failure to parent is included in actively teaching them to be criminals)their children to be thugs!!! If children get tickets for walking down the middle of street, good, teach them walk on the sidewalks, and that means that the adults do it too. Your children aren't behaving in school, the parent needs to get his or her behind down there and take care of the problem child, not yelling and belitting the teacher and staff. Make your kids come home, have a bedtime routine, fix breakfast....eggs and toast are cheap....keep in touch with the teachers, do drop ins. The tv is not a babysitter. The libraries have huge amounts of resources...all free. There are no excuses. You want to impact crime, use basic common sense, not the latest unproven trend. Don should be screaming for adequate police coverage. Yes, black people will be arrested, and perhaps, black people won't be getting shot and killed.
