Crime is on the rise in Peoria according to a report released by the city Monday.
The issues' report shows that overall crime in the city is up by 3 percent through August of this year, compared to the same time last year.
There have been nearly 200 robberies reported so far in 2012, up 29 percent and aggravated assaults are up by 2 percent. Murders, however, are down by 20 percent.
At this time in 2011, there had been 10 murders in Peoria, this year there were 8.
Property crimes have decreased in the numbers of thefts and arson, but continue to rise in the areas of burglaries and car thefts with a 15 percent increase.Source

As long as we're not allowed to discuss the nature of the crime, it will continue unabated.
Lots of guns in the news as of late.
Notice no mention is made of the huge increase in agg. assaults. What is really frustrating is that there were over 4000 victims of crimes. That doesn't include those traumatized because it was the house next door or across the street. Council members still justify cutting police officers and one still is bonehead enough to brag about his "tough decisions". We need to dump some council members in the Spring and we need to insist that the budget contain priorities for the citizens, not pet projects, employers, and campaign donors.
Two hours ago at Krogers East Peoria: female senior citizen loading groceries into her vehicle. her purse is in child seat portion of shopping cart. Young kid comes by and snatched purse and took off running . only got five dollars cash, but also got credit cards and personal photographs identifications, etc. The cameras caught the crime, but makes you wonder if this is the first incident.
Story im getting is Turns out evidence pointing toward the jolly whiz brain kid being n store (so they got nice pix) , checked out same time, chatted her up, talked about the price of eggs, helped her load the groceries into car then grabbed purse.
Cops got his address and already stopped by his house at twice with pictures but so far he's not home.
Did he not watch any episodes of Danny Boneduce and Tonya Harding cracking on dumb criminals caught on film ?
