Huge fight at Peoria High School

It's 9:20 a.m. and a huge fight is happening on the third floor of Peoria High School. The Peoria Police had to call for back up two (2) times. At the present time there are five (5) PPD vehicles at the school and they are unable to take another call that just came in. More than six students have been taken into custody.

SMDH

PPD back at PHS for lunch. It sounds like more of a proactive measure. Hopefully they can keep things under control.

If they show they don't take any mess now, maybe they can set the standard for how they will deal with these fools who continue to disrupt school.

This behavior is disgusting. JUST STOP CLOWNING!

I'm sure there is a good reason for the fight..like a girl or drugs..

Right now, they're on lockdown. Smh.

I've been thinking about all of this fighting business. I think that the state should throw driver's licenses into the mix. If you fight in a public school, you can't get your license until you're eighteen. If you already have your license, it gets suspended for two years.

Is this Woodruff - Central rivalies still going on or do black kids just HAVE to act up??

I think they should tie it to public assistance. If your child fights in school, then you lose cash assistance on link or earned income credit. Tie it to money and then the parents might feel the pressure to control their kids. Met a parent today whose child pushed an officer and she was arrested. Really if you would have raised your child to act appropriately then your child would know that you don't do that.

The number of kids who did the right thing today far outnumbered the ones who give PHS a bad name. Please don't judge all of them by incidents like this.

District Watch will meet Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Monical's on Knoxville and Lake at 6 p.m.--before Monday's Committee of the Whole Meeting. Anyone interested in District 150 is welcome.

Yesterday there were so many police officers at Peoria High School, that when another call came through to 911, they didn't have any officers to take the call.

Therefore, whatever was going on at PHS must have been fairly bad, as people were taken into custody. Why didn't the incident make the news?

Emerge, many incidents don't make the news. City Hall and the District want the residents kept in the dark or their jobs would be on the line. Shooting on Gale Tuesday early a.m. made no media, city and school can continue to ignore the crime problems and waste tax money on other items.

Anonymous made a great comment, many kids did and do the right thing. And....it is a felony to batter or assault any school personnel on school property. But, I don't think any one is Dist. 150 has every prosecuted any offenders. And, I remember Dr. L, saying that the district would not prosecute students for "stepping on teachers toes". Where does the line draw? I also know that the city and others like to pretend there is no problem. It has been blind luck no one has been killed...yet.

You can't file charges on any of these little angels. It's the teachers fault that they cuss, hit and hold the teachers and other students who want to learn hostage. We've been told to take it or get out of teaching in district 150. Lathan has already said she is ready to replace us with graduates from north carolina black colleges. You really think this board of education and lathan and her minons are going to change anything until she replaces all of us current teachers. This is only going to continue--to bad the police don't show up at the middle schools and k-8 buildings. You should see and hear what these students do.

I am a recent retiree and i have subbed about 4 times. I made the choice to sub in the primary schools. Let me tell you, the first day i subbed at the kindergarten level. The children had no concept just to sit. One little angel had to be restraint because of trying to hurt the other kids. he wasn't mearly throwing small items, he was picking up chairs. Unbelievable

Grathin must subscribe to that whole "only black teachers can teach black kids" thing. How racist and wrong-headed is that?
