Well, that was about one (1) month ago and just as predicted then, Illinois American Water Company is now raising rates by, oh about $3.00 per month. By the way - we still gotta pay that garbage fee, which increased from $6 to $13 in January. AND aren't we now looking at seeing a fuel tax increase? These extra fees just continue to add to the many wonderful reasons we already have to live, shop, matriculate and/or work in the City of Peoria.
Illinois American Water rates on the rise
Illinois American Water customers will soon be paying more for their water service.
The increase means Peoria residents will pay an extra $3 a month, and Pekin customers will see a $3.50 increase; resulting in an estimated $17.9 million in additional annual revenue for the company.
A spokesperson says after the 11 month process, the increase is less than what American Water officials asked for. The new rates will take affect on or around Oct. 1.

I actually posted this exact thing. Why all of a sudden IAW was not going to collect the Garbage Fee. Because they are going to increase their rates. I was talking to an IAW rep on the month a few months ago about a property with water service for my son. In causal converstaion I asked what was one of their biggest complaints? She said people calling in asking why their water bills were so high and that they had to explain that $13 was not water related but a city tax.

Oh and as a city council member, I would not support a fuel tax increase. I do believe Peoria already has a tax on gasoline currently at 1 cent a gallon.
Why is Missouri $.40 cents cheaper a gallon than Peoria?
