Never afraid to be provocative and speak his mind; sometimes Anti-Pundit would go so hard in his blog posts, that I would take a picture of his page out of sheer disbelief for what I just read...

Since the August blog post above, Emert has changed his mind and decided to run for the 1st District City Council seat. He kept his blog open and continued to be vocal commenting whenever he felt he had something he needed to weigh in on.
Many on the boards suggested to Emert that he should stop commenting. Well, two days ago, it appears that Emert conceded that to continue defending himself on the boards was getting to be too much work and could get him in trouble and he has decided that it's time he focus on the election and the issues of the 1st.

Most folks running for elected office would love to have the level of web presence that Emert has established. There are a lot of important issues happening in the 1st District, and a blog is an excellent way to put forth a positive message about the issues constituents are concerned about.

When I read Randall's posts.... I think often of Christ Christie, governor of New Jersey. Both aren't afraid to say what is on their minds.
Randall may not be as eloquent as most politicians but I think that is where his appeal begins. He writes in a manner that is common to the average person. Does he swear? Sure. Does he hold back punches to be more diplomatic? Nope. He calls bullshit for what it really is: bullshit. Sometimes you have to say... BULLSHIT. BULLSHIT. BULLSHIT.
His heart, his values, and his vision for what this city most needs is spot on. We don't need more smooth operators. We don't need more consultants.
The average working guy isn't going to be all diplomatic either. He will call it bullshit too. Lets not pretend that working folks don't swear and play rough in their politics.
If folks got a problem with such dialogue... well.. this is for you:

Lighten up.
Good comparison. Christie has weight issues to.
As a marketing and advertising professional, I would suggest that Mr. Emert take his blog and his web audience FORWARD with his vision for the first. Don't give up that established presence.
As proven by this post, his writings are out there, he can't run from his blog, may as well make it work for him.
^ He could probably benefit from some one on one... advertising/promo advice. And maybe if someone could do up a handout of some kind.... then he would have something to give out when he shows up some place.
**nudge nudge**
I've offered to help him with any handout designs, marketing, etc.
I'd like to see Randall use his blog to present his platform and ideas and then back off and let the commenters discuss/debate those idea.
I can tell you from personal experience that having a "popular" blog does not translate into many votes. I would encourage Randy to get out there going door to door and going to coffees, fund-raisers, and other get-togethers where he can interact with people, let them get to know him, and ask them for their vote in person. That's what I should have done. While I don't think shutting down his blog was necessary (you really can't erase stuff from the internet, as was already pointed out above), I don't think it's going to hurt him either.
well, He is correct about BVA. On the news last night at her fundraiser, saying how she wants to help in big and small ways. Please. She has abandoned much of her continuancy. Even though she was willing to sell out the West Bluff, I was not surprised to see the Bluff well represented in the background shots. Go figure. The mayor will back her. This election is about a power struggle on the council. Ardis is losing ground and is clearly willing to sell out the people for yes votes that he and Spain need to continue their waste of the people's money. Surprising was Dan Irving in the background video as well. I wonder why Patti Smith dropped out...perhaps she would have been an independent thinker and "discouraged to run". just supposition and being reported as such.
Randy's heart is in the right place. He understands his district's needs and I would give his all. He shut down his blog, so be it.
