Maybe I am missing something here. I saw the children's choir singing "Silent Night" at the opening of the show. They were all robed in red and sang beautifully, without a need to announce that it was a tribute to the losses in Connecticut. When they were finished they announced together "Live from NY, Saturday Night Live," which is the usual opening. I was teary while they sang.

I enjoyed this video, but it wasn't what I saw.

I kind of wish they would have just faded to black and not come back on to say "live from New York...," that's kind of ironic to me - the
"live" part.
Yeah, I can understand that. I was surprised they did that.
