The 1st District Council race is tricky

It's been very interesting watching what's going on with the 1st District City Council race. Truth be known, the 1st District is the sexist District in the City. Anything of importance going on in Peoria, is being played out in the 1st:

The Museum, crime, Warehouse District, drugs, the Pere @ the Marriott, guns, Cat Visitor's Center, failing schools, new roundabout, crumbling sidewalks ... Sexy.

To have three people vying for one seat draws attention to the possibilities in the 1st - if the right person gets the seat.

Now we look to the Election Commission to make a decision on the residency of Gary Sandberg. We have all seen Mr. Sandberg take City Code and interpret the nuances in a way that any man can understand. That's what we like about him isn't it?

So, I read this and if the information is accurate, there just may be a loophole in the "district" residency requirement. But why would Mr. Sandberg want this seat via loophole? What would that do for his street cred, as the one guy who stands up for any man? AND, if Mr. Sandberg's understanding is that there is no district residency requirement, why is he going about the business of trying to establish one? Tricky.

You have to live in the district you're going to represent; there is just no requirement that you have to have lived there one year before you can run. In retrospect, I think I didn't make that distinction sufficiently in my post.

That explains it. Thanks.

CJ stayed at a Holiday Inn last night so he would know. According to Tom at the Election Commission, you must live in the district one year from the date you filed, hence the date THEY put on it is: Nov 26,2011.

Did Tom indicate what section he felt was violated?

No matter the black letter law, it's bad form and beneath Gary. Shame on him for trying to make us chose between him and Randall.

RIGGENBACH MUST GO!

Tim Riggenbach has made the gutting of the East Bluff possible.

Nobody is mentioning that he is running for ofice AGAIN.

Riggenbach is laying low. People are watching the 1st District fiasco, next they are looking at the 2nd District. Meanwhile the 3rd District Council person is hoping to skate to a second term.

WHAT HAS RIGGENBACH DONE FOR THE EAST BLUFF?????????????????????

TIM RIGGENBACH MUST GO!

WHO EVER IS RUNNING AGAINST TIM RIGGENBACH WILL GET MY VOTE!

I heard a rumor today about a midnight screening of the Hobbit on the Museum big screen.

Ditto to Frustrated
It's really sad for our community and most of all the children of this school distrcit. Here's one for the blog...why don't we just get rid of all the people we thought had authority or influence in their positions and let the Super run every position down to the janitor??? I am sure she would leave Peoria then...
