Crime is on the rise in Peoria according to a report released by the city Monday.
The issues' report shows that overall crime in the city is up by 3 percent through August of this year, compared to the same time last year.
There have been nearly 200 robberies reported so far in 2012, up 29 percent and aggravated assaults are up by 2 percent. Murders, however, are down by 20 percent.
At this time in 2011, there had been 10 murders in Peoria, this year there were 8.
Property crimes have decreased in the numbers of thefts and arson, but continue to rise in the areas of burglaries and car thefts with a 15 percent increase.Source
