It is still Poetry Month

She stands
In the quiet darkness,
This troubled woman
Bowed by
Weariness and pain
Like an
Autumn flower
In the frozen rain,
Like a
Wind-blown autumn flower
That never lifts its head
Again.

April is Poetry Month

I can read Don't You Turn Back, Poems by Langston Hughes over and over (and I have). This book with woodcuts is one of my favorite things that I own. Since it's Poetry Month, I would be remiss if I didn't take advantage of this opportunity to share some of my favorite poems from Langston Hughes.
Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
